George Angell
Charity Manager
I am George and I am the Charity manager for Heart Heroes. I have over 11 years experience working in commercial and operational roles and I have recently made the jump into the Charity sector. The children and families we support are so brave in facing their adversities and it is a pleasure to support them.
Away from the working environment I enjoy spending time with my family, playing rugby and golf. Being a part of the Heart Heroes community is a very special and I am excited about the potential the charity has to grow even more.

I am Amy, the Engagement Lead at Heart Heroes. My background has spanned from a dedicated 15 years as a Nursery Manager, and I have also worked as a children's Holiday Rep, and over 5 years of experience in Conference and Events Management, which brings a wealth of experience of working with families, children, and customer service.
I joined Heart Heroes in September 2021. I'm married to Adam and a proud mother to Arlo. I find immense joy in witnessing families come together and form unbreakable bonds during the "I Can" sessions. Witnessing the priceless friendships that bloom is a great reward.

I am Mum to Heart Hero Calum who is 17 years old. Calum has had 5 open heart surgeries and we have spent lots of time In Bristol Children’s Hospital. I have often found Calum’s journey very lonely and jumped at the opportunity to become the Bristol Hub Co-ordinator for Heart Heroes, as I know personally how valuable it is to connect with other families that understand the cardiac journey.
Since April 2023 I have been visiting Dolphin Ward on a weekly basis to connect with families while they are in hospital as the Family Support Lead. Hi! I’m Leanne, the charity’s trainee play therapist. I’ve spent the last 16 years working in private and state education. I’m excited to start a new chapter as a play therapist with Heart Heroes! I love the idea of creating a fun, safe space for children to explore and work through their emotions. When I’m not in a playroom, you’ll probably find me spending time with my family or out for a run!

Hi, my name is Emma and I live in Cheltenham with my three children who are aged between 7 and 11. Hi, I’m Pete and proud to be a Trustee of Heart Heroes. I am also a part owner and Director of a successful local Engineering company supplying products predominately into the Aerospace and Medical sectors.
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family, the odd DIY project and most things with an engine!
I have been a Trustee of Heart Heroes from the beginning and have seen the charity grow from an initial idea into what it is now supporting hundreds of families across an ever-increasing area of the country. Seeing the difference, it makes to the families we support is truly heartwarming.

As a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Joint Lead for family services in the NHS, working with children and young people with cardiac and a range of other conditions, I'm delighted to be part of the Heart heroes team. I have worked in the NHS for 20 years offering psychological support to families and designing specialist psychology services. I have also provided coaching, leadership development, supervision, and innovative programs of support for both the public and private sector. Having worked with a wide variety of organisations and teams, I bring warmth, humour and always worked closely with families to think about how services can support their needs better. As such I have led a series of programs to develop resources and innovative programs to support patient activation and engagement in services. I will continue to think with the families, hospitals and organisations about how to work together to meet the challenges of the 10 year NHS plan to bring care closer to home, become digital and preventative but in a way that works.
