Heart Hero Poppy has recently been honoured at the British Heart Foundation’s awards ceremony held at Chessington World of Adventures, receiving the Young Heart Hero Award for her incredible bravery and strength.
Born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome (HRHS), Poppy has faced 10 operations, including a major Fontan procedure in January 2024. This challenging 11-hour surgery involved 91 minutes on bypass and a week in intensive care. Despite the odds, Poppy amazed everyone with her determination, making a remarkable recovery in just one week.
Her dad, Ben, shared, “We’re so proud of her. She’s a little warrior, an inspiration, and my hero.”
Poppy, you truly are a Heart Hero!
